About Procurement
Who We Are
The Highlands County Procurement Division supports County departments and special benefit districts under the Board of County Commissioners by facilitating the acquisition of goods and services needed to support County operations and serve the community. We work with County staff, vendors, and other stakeholders to help ensure purchasing activities are conducted fairly, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and laws.
In limited circumstances, the department also provides procurement assistance to other constitutional offices.
Our Mission
To provide professional, responsive, and responsible procurement services that support County operations, promote fair and open competition, and ensure the effective use of public funds.
What We Do
Solicitations & Competitive Purchasing
Coordinate formal and informal procurement processes, including invitations to bid, requests for proposals, requests for qualifications, and other competitive solicitations, as applicable.
Contract Administration Support
Assist with contract documentation, amendments, renewals, expiration tracking, and maintaining procurement records.
Vendor Relations
Help vendors understand County purchasing processes, locate business opportunities, and navigate applicable registration and documentation requirements.
Purchasing Guidance & Compliance
Provide County staff with purchasing guidance, resources, and procedural support to help ensure compliance with County policies and applicable requirements.
Accountability & Transparency
Support fair purchasing practices, appropriate documentation, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
