Curbside holiday collection schedule
There are four holidays that impact collection schedules:
New Year's Day - Independence Day - Thanksgiving - Christmas
The Highlands County Landfill is CLOSED on the following days, in observance of the holidays, and the following adjustments will be made to the curbside collection schedule.

- Jan. 1, 2026 (Thursday) - Landfill closed
- Jan. 2, 2026 (Friday) - Landfill reopens
- Thursday pickup changed to Friday, Jan. 2, 2026
- Friday pickup changed to Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026
FOURTH OF JULY
- July 4, 2026 (Saturday) - Landfill closed
- July 6, 2026 (Monday) - Landfill reopens
Curbside collection services are not affected.
THANKSGIVING
- Nov. 26, 2026 (Thursday) - Landfill closed
- Nov. 27, 2026 (Friday) - Landfill reopens
- Thursday pickup changed to Friday, Nov. 27, 2026
- Friday pickup changed to Saturday, Nov. 28, 2026
CHRISTMAS
- Dec. 25, 2026 (Friday) - Landfill closed
- Dec. 26, 2026 (Saturday) - Landfill reopens
