JD Langford began his career with the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners in January of 2017 as the Assistant County Engineer.
The Engineering Department is located at 505 S. Commerce Avenue in the old county annex building in downtown Sebring and consists of the following divisions:
- Traffic Operations
- GIS - Addressing
Engineering functions include surveying, development review, project design and permitting, and construction project management. Staff are responsible for the review of construction plans and plats of residential and commercial developments proposed for unincorporated areas of the County to ensure they conform to County code and they review and approve work performed in public right-of-ways in the unincorporated areas.
Engineering works closely with the Road & Bridge Department to oversee the planning and construction of major roads and bridges. Staff also works with all other County departments providing technical and professional assistance, as needed.
Traffic Operations functions include speed limit requests and analysis, maintenance of highway lighting, traffic signals, school zones, pavement markings, intersection operations, and roadway capacity.
