J.D. Langford began his career with the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners in January of 2017 as the Assistant County Engineer. In March 2023, Langford was promoted to the position of County Engineer. In November 2024, he was promoted to the role of Assistant County Administrator.

Prior to working for the Board of County Commissioners, J.D. worked as a staff engineer for AIM Engineering & Surveying Inc. in Fort Myers from 2007 to 2017. He graduated from University of Florida with a Bachelor's of Science in Agricultural & Biological Engineering in December 2006. He is an Avon Park High School graduate and currently lives in Lake Placid with his wife and two children.
