Veteran Services Advisory Board 

PURPOSE:
The Highlands County Veteran Services Advisory Board is a veteran community based support group, organized to promote, advocate and support veteran community wide decision-making agendas and to improve communication within our veteran community.  The Board serves as a resource for the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners and the community on veteran benefits. 

The Board is tasked with working on issues in cooperation with the community, promotes patriotism with the local veteran organizations, expresses views and opinions to the County government on issues that concern and affect veteran benefits and conducts themselves in a professional manner that promotes integrity, honor and professionalism in the community.

AUTHORITY:
Established by the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners in January 2001.

MEMBERSHIP:
Appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. 

The Veteran Services Advisory Board consists of seven (7) members; two (2) veterans from Lake Placid, two (2)veterans from Sebring; two (2) veterans from Avon Park and one (1) member at large from anywhere within the County.

TERMS:

Members serve three-year terms.

MEETINGS:
Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month at 3:30 pm.
